Facial acupuncture or Botox??
Looking for an alternative to invasive skin procedures?
NSNM is now offering AcuLift Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and Cupping.
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is an “anti-aging” treatment that involves the insertion of very fine, disposable, sterile needles into specific points on the face. This technique offers an effective and safe alternative to cosmetic surgery and expensive fillers/injections. It is based on the ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is over 3,000 years old. It includes the use of constitutional body points to aid in supporting overall health and well-being.
No matter what your age, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can be used to prevent and/or minimize wrinkles or for overall facial rejuvenation and self-care. Here are some of the positive effects:
Increases collagen production.
Tonifies muscles in and around the face and neck for a "lifting" effect.
Stimulates circulation and lymphatic drainage to decrease puffiness, enhance natural glow, and plump fine lines.
Helps to relieve muscle tension in face from chronic stress.
Regulating acne/smoothing acne scars and balances oily/dry skin
Tightens pores and evens skin tone.
How does it work?
Did you know there are over 40 muscles in your face alone? Tension and/or lack of tension in these muscles is a major contributor to sagging and drooping appearance as we age. The unique benefits of this treatment include tonifying facial muscles to produce a "lift"-like effect. Once the needles have been inserted into specific acupuncture points on the face, blood circulation is stimulated, bringing nutrients, oxygen and moisture to the skin. On the cellular level, needling creates non-invasive micro-trauma, initiating a natural stimulation of cellular repair, collagen and elastin production. An increase in collagen helps to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of the following:
Marionette Lines – lines between the lower mouth and chin
Nasolabial Folds – deep folds between the nose and the mouth(smile/laugh lines)
Glabellar Lines – vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows(frown lines, “the 11”)
Crow’s Feet – wrinkles at the outer corner of the eyes
Forehead Lines – horizontal wrinkles across the forehead
Eyelid – hooding and drooping with age
Under Eye – puffiness and dark circles
Vertical Lip Lines – small wrinkles above and below the mouth
Jowls – sagging around the jawline
Neck Lines – horizontal lines that run across the neck
How long does it take?
A general course of 10 treatments is done per area of the face. Typically one treatment per a week. Usually after a few treatments a patient notices some changes. Around the 7th or 8th treatment, the collagen stimulation peaks and wrinkles start diminishing. After this, a maintenance of one treatment a month is done depending on the age of the patient. In comparison to botox or fillers, this is much less maintenance and cost over time with longer lasting effects. The technique is non-invasive and does not have long-term adverse side effects.
Is it effective?
One study that was published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996 reported a 98% success rate with cosmetic acupuncture. This study involved 300 individuals who underwent one course of facial acupuncture treatment. The results revealed that 98% of participants experienced marked improvements in their skin. Some of the beneficial effects included tighter skin, better skin elasticity, reduction of wrinkles and improved skin tone and complexion.
